New to hockey? Start with Learn-to-Play. It runs four times a year. (Fall, Winter, Spring, & Summer) Click here for more details on the program and its current session. Plus you need a USA Hockey number to register.  Click here for that information. What equipment do you need?  Click here for that information.

Have you done Learn-to-play? Are you ready for 6U?  Here are some helpful questions to answer to determine the best fit for you child.

1.      Can my child separate from me easily? How much time do we want to commit?

  • LTP will be on the ice for 60 minutes/session. Typically sessions are 1x/week.
  •  6U is typically scheduled for 60 minute practices 1x/week and will add in games on the weekends starting in late October/early November

2.      Does my child have prior skating experience? Is he/she comfortable on the ice? Is he/she excited to play?

  • LTP players may or may not have prior skating experience – it is fantastic if they have been on the ice for 10 hours prior to beginning, can stand and balance without a stick – that being said, it is not required, and if your child is willing to separate from you and try without too many tears, they are more than welcome! We have had complete beginners do just fine – it just depends on the child
  • 6U players should have participated in a LTP program previously and be able to skate easily forward and backwards, stop, and skate with a puck. Additionally, they should be able/willing to focus, and listen to and follow directions.

 6 and Under

The 6U program is for players born in 2018 and younger who are able to skate (see above for more helpful tips about how to decide which program is right for you).

Our 6U teams will...

  • Practice 1-2x a week
  • Develop their skating and puck handling skills through a variety of drills and games
  • Balanced teams will be formed to play cross-ice, against our Rockets teams and other teams in the area
  • Have fun and enjoy the game and being with their team

The session will start after Labor Day and registration will be open in July.

8 and Under

The Mite 8U program is for players born in 2016 and 2017. Typically they have completed Learn-to-Play and/or participated in 6U. At this level divisions are based on ability to help promote better skill development and player confidence. This level typically has two practices a week and a game on the weekend against other area teams. Additionally they have the opportunity to participate in area jamborees (round-robin set of games).
