8U and 6U information
8U
Now that you have registered your child to play with the Rockets, you will likely have a number of questions about what to expect including games, practices and equipment. Please click the resource tab to see some FAQs regarding getting started. Be sure that your player has the correct equipment.
Regular season:
Evaluations will take place in August. Please click the button above. Players attend 1-3 evaluations. At the end of evaluations players are placed on teams based of levels: Red (top), White (middle), and Blue.
Practices will take place 2-3 times per week. Practices will be held on Wednesday evenings at Brentwood Ice Rink (5:30pm or 6:45pm) and Friday evenings at Creve Coeur (5:00pm or 5:55pm).
The first practice will be September 18th at either 5:30pm or 6:45pm at Brentwood Ice Rink. Your players team will be in the Crossbar app immediately following the 8U draft so please make sure you download the Crossbar app!
Players will also have practices at our Off Ice Facility.
Games will take place on Saturdays and/or Sundays beginning in October. Teams will likely play in one jamboree/tournament during the season.
Please have you player dressed in full gear and ready to be on the ice in plenty of time for practices and games. This typically takes 15 - 30 minutes before the scheduled event.
Goals of this program are to develop skating and puck handling skills through a variety of drills and games as well as to have fun and enjoy the game.

The first practice will be 9/20 at 5:45pm at Webster Groves Ice Rink. Please bring a jersey! We will be selecting teams after that skate. We will issue team jersey and socks after the 2nd Friday Practice. We will load players into Crossbar and practice and game time will be shared on the Crossbar app. Please make sure you have the Crossbar app!
Regular season:
An evaluation will take place at the first practice. Rockets instructors will work with players to assess skill level over a series of practices. Balanced teams will be formed to play cross-ice against teams in our area. Some intra-squad games will also take place.
Practice will take place once a week. Practice will be held on Friday evenings at Webster Groves and Sunday mornings at Brentwood.
Friday practices: 5:45-6:45pm @ Webster Groves Ice Rink
